Publishing House Me

Helping House

News

Welcome to the Helping House. If you need help getting started or have some questions about PublishingHouseMe, this is the house to be in. Below you will find tips on how to get started, how to submit your work and how safe the website is.

How do I get started?

To get started you must register with PublishingHouseMe. Registration is easy and free and it allows us to check that submissions are safe and regulated.

Find out more >

You will then be emailed a username and password that you can use to log into the system and send us your work. If your already registered you can simply login.

How do I submit an item?

Once you are registered you can go to your account. Your account shows you all the submissions you have made , and lets you send new submissions for review.

Before you submit, remember your work needs a title and a small description. Depending on what you want to submit you can supply different things. Have a look at the step by step guides for submitting items on this page.

What happens when my work is submitted?

When you send a piece of your work to PublishingHouseMe it is sent to the safe house. It doesn't go straight into one of the PHMe houses or rooms because it needs to be read first.

Find out more >

Why?

We need to check that we want to publish it - or whether we think your work could be made better - or whether we want to reject it.  We hope to reject as little of your work as possible.

Who reads and checks my stuff?

A group of other school students and pupils just like you. At the moment, the youngest is ten and the oldest is seventeen - with lots in between.

How might I become a reader?

The first group were chosen from a random group who came along to help us design the PHMe website. In the coming months we will have writers' workshops where we will invite schools to bring students and pupils - and give them the chance to become a reader.

What does a reader do?

A reader has a user name and password to let them into Safehouse. Apart from the very small group of adults who help run the site, all the decisions about PHMe are made by the registered readers and they are the only ones who have access to the work sent in. When they have read a piece of work they accept it, reject it, or suggest it is changed in some way - like being made shorter or longer.

Who can I contact for help?

If you can't find what you need here, you can contact us at help@publishinghouse.me.uk for more information.

What do the numbers and stars next to peoples names mean?

Every time someone makes a comment or submits work to PublishingHouseMe we award them points. The more points they get, the better their star. Each person is awarded 1 point for a published comment and 5 points for a published submission.
