London Riots
This is a ballard/poem about the London riots in 2011.. Submitted by Ciara (
53), age 12
When a man is killed without justice,
A peaceful protest is fine,
But no one predicted that this one,
Would turn into an unruly crime.
Blazing fires were set alight,
And looters hit the stores,
Stones were flung into the midnight sky,
And the police’s water cannons pour.
Broken building remain in ashes,
Victims are as scared as mice,
Years of hard work has vanished,
And blood stains show the price.
Five dead, two hundred and two injured,
and plenty more mourn,
hero’s won’t ever celebrate,
As a new country has been born.
