Off to War

A short poem showing the effects of war.. Submitted by louise (Award 565), age 16

Daddy’s off to war,
Mummy’s making bombs,
Apparently, Daddy’s gone, they said,
Apparently, he’s gone off coms.
But when Daddy comes back,
He promised me he would,
I’ll give him a big hug,
Even if I’m covered in mud.
Then I won’t be alone,
Since Mummy’s gone too,
She’s in a bath full of red water,
But she said I would be soon.

They lay down their lives to save us,
To keep our country pure,
They did something of the noblest kind,
