Question existing/Contemplating
a poem that just came to me. Submitted by Alicia (

What is it to truly be alive?
To have being?
To be found?
To maintain life?
To be extant,
To live,
To be present,
To occur,
To keep going,
To stay alive,
To subsist,
To survive?
What truly are our aims?
To complete a legacy?
To continue ‘God’s divine plans’?
To discover the ‘secrets of the universe’?
What are we?
We who are so small, so invalid
We who do not matter if only one, ONE being expires.
We are but mere humans.
And yet, we know what it is to be alive,
It is to live
To feel
To discover
…to die.
We know what our aims are.
They are to live
To feel
To discover
To die
To make the best of a bad thing
To be ourselves.
We know what we are.
We are alive
Feeling
Discovering
Dying
Making the best of a bad thing
Ourselves.
We were. We are. We will be.
