The Battle of Edge Hill
October 23rd 1642
Dear Diary
As I put on my maroon colored coat, I felt proud but also very scared. I waited and waited and watched our army getting ready for the battle, my heart was racing at 100 miles per hour.
The icy, snowy and frosty hill was very hard to walk down. I was half terrified and half proud that I was fighting for the side that was right.
I was quite confident, because we had guns, but I was also very scared that one hit of a club in the head and I could be dead. As I stood on the sludgy field I had a thought that in about 5 hours I could be dead on this field that was about to become a battlefield.
I was dreading the feeling that in 15 minutes the battle would begin, my heart was in my mouth it felt disgusting.
As the captain told us to load our guns with gunpowder, I was checking everything was ready. Then the captain shouted FIRE!!! He shouted as loud as he had ever done before it was so loud mixed with gunshot my eardrums exploded everywhere and wax was all over my face. It was all sticky and disgusting. The shock had really hurt my shoulder. All the horses just kept on charging and never stopped.
All the villagers were sprinting out of the church and the houses. They were running to hide behind anything they could find. I wish I could have hidden too....
